Thanks.
As i dont sell Dedicated servers and only resell VPS i have no involvement in this.

Most places on the web do use the Cloud idea as a marketing gimmick, but the value of the cloud and a proper setup is very real. We have used, and use, the cloud for our clients advantage, but as mentioned, most people will never get to experience the performance of it. It's definitely a buzz word these days, but it's not a gimmick.

Cloud hosting is good, if you need it.

Savvis are in the top right of the Gartner Magic quadrant for cloud privisioning and services, their site has some good explanation for what the industry leaders consider cloud.

http://cloud.savvis.com/

I use a cloud system to provision servers so that I can install known configurations of server on different types of hardware without issue.

So for Joe Bloggs's wordpress site, cloud is not really necessary, but for a popular website who have to provision more and more servers every day of a known quality, regardless of the hardware they are running on this is a fast and easy way to do so.

After studying the features of cloud hosting one can easily decide either to go for it or not. IMO normally Webmasters who are with dedicated servers do not opt for any other web hosting. Cloud hosting is better option for the webmaster who are currently on shared hosting or vps hosting servers.
