In today’s hosting world clients are needed. Startup need clients to make or brakes even not to mention a profit. I do a lot of going to the streets and ask for clients, any business I go to big or small, recently went to a large oil company and ask a simple question do you need a website, well the secretary kind of thought I was out of my mind, but after sending out the IT represented he was very interested in a server for emails. Now most of the time I get the shoe store owner who want a ecommerce site, well that’s it 9.95 hosting and I get to design his site. I like the hosting business it is something rewarding and I can truly say I earn respect from my clients and I am thankful to God that he gives me the knowledge to do this. Enjoy all you hosters....

Definitely it's interesting post you shared here. Normally traditional business owners do not feel the need of any website because they think they are well settled with their business, but the modern businessmen who are intended to expand their business activities beyond their local boundaries show interest in websites. IMO any business at least related to IT sector must have their official website.

Congrats for your business. And, wish you best of luck.
Actually, it seems to be very easy business at the start, but with the expansion of your business we need more staff (trained staff) to keep satisfied the clients because, only a few of angry clients may result a negative feedback for your business

SonWebHost,

I'm just curious when you cold call like this do you have any marketing material to promote your company, like something you could leave with the owner/manager in case they change their mind etc. ?

Thanks

Congratulations for your new business. Starting a Business is a crucial process in itself, running it smoothly and expanding the client base is even more complex. Though you'd have had some strategy in place, but I'd advice you to think from a customers point of view. Jot down what all a customer would expect from you, offering an end-to-end one stop solution can be thought about. Secondly, try to get business from your existing customers. If they are happy with the service you offer, they wouldn't hesitate to refer you to others.

For every business of this century, it is important that you offer the best customer delight to build a unique identity for yourself and your business ofcourse.

Old is Gold my friend . Despite being an old technique, it can work wonders. Not doing the right thing and still expecting business to pour in is foolish. You need to do something that clicks and proves beneficial.

If you are a new business having for example 5 customers, if each of them would refer 2 new people a month then at the end of the month you'd have grown your customerbase to 15. And if you continue with this trend, just imagine the number of customers you'd build by the end of the year. Now, how you go about doing this is what needs to be decided by yourself. You've got to have a self assigned target when it comes to expanding businesses.
