Hi Guys,

Here are some things to consider before you chose a Web Host.

1. Quality Matters : The old saying, “you get what you pay for” is true almost everytime. Web hosting is no exception. Most people new to website hosting opt for the cheapest plan they can find at first. That is, until they actually experience the service!.Making the move to a quality web host is the first step to success for your website.

2. Hosting uptime: This refers to the amount of time a server is running successfully without going down. This is shown as a percentage of uptime, therefore if a server has an uptime of 95% uptime it means any sites which are also on this server will be running live at this percentage of uptime and subsequently down 5% of the time.

3. Customer support: If your site goes down, you must make sure the hosting company is able to support you and answer any questions. If you site is down, you are losing money from potential sales, so it is vital that there is 24 hour support to help you with any issues.

4. Bandwidth: Check the bandwidth limit on different hosting packages as some companies might limit this which means if you go over your allowance, you will have to purchase more.

5. Security: With personal information being sent between the server and your website such as customer bank card details and personal information such as addresses, it is vital this information is secure. Therefore, the hosting must be secure and use encryption.

I hope these friendly tips could help you

Interesting notion with the "you get what you pay for", very true. I think a lot of buyers want a lot more than what they pay for and this can be facilitated sometimes.

You should consider adding up the affordability of their plans.

Also IP pricing, since no more IP is being handed out in certain areas.

Good advice! These are exactly what you should look for in a host, unfortunately some people go for price over quality though!

You should also consider the experience of the web host. Since you do no want to end up subscribing to any new host which may shut down after couple of months.

It is important that a host has been in business for two or more years to for users to be able to trust the provider.

Customer support is one of the most important things to consider. However, if you have to reach the support team of a webhosting provider on a daily-basis, you should consider another host. A good support team is nice, but is better not to need it.

Actually with the hosting business getting very competitive, lots of hosting companies provide more and more extra features and services for the same price.

2. Support
3. Cost

How about age of the company? Online reviews? Quality of Service? Nothing is more frustrating than signing up with a company only to find out they have no clue what they're doing, and believe me - it happens all to often.

If I can get a refund, I won't care about Online Reviews.

The three things that I have listed are the basic aspects of quality of service.

Age of company...good to be considered by it's only worth 10% of my consideration. I am willing to give a chance to all the new business ventures, so that they can survive in the industry.

Even new businesses need to start somewhere and if you did not use new companies then NO business no matter what it was would not exist
Online reviews?
Take with a pinch of salt as sopme hosts will fake these.
Quality of Service?
you can only judge this by using their services

Research a host, ask simple questions any host should know through support ticket, live chat (if they have any) and email.
this also judges how quick they respond

While I agree with you to a degree, most small companies that are successful start off in their local area to build a client base and branch out from there. There are a few that throw money at this issue but rarely see a return on that investment. How does one research a company that has no history behind it? While I do appreciate what your saying on the subject, I have to say a lot of times you just need to take a chance when using a new start-up company.
