Has anyone had any experience with hostgators reseller plans or hostxl.net
i am very new to this and do not want to be singing a sad song by choosing the wrong company.

Maybe you should post your question as a new thread instead of burying it here.

Now, to answer your question a bit, I only have shared hosting experience with hostgator (not reseller). I had no downtime for nearly 5 months. Then a small downtime (under 30 mins) while they were under a very hard DDoS attack, so it wasn't really they fault. In fact they handled it very well.

I don't need much support, but they are always available by either live chat, MSN messanger, etc. When I sent emails to support I received answers in about 5 mins.

I split the thread to make it easier for the initial poster to get feedback.

Hi again HostProNZ!

Here's a thread about hostxl.net that you might want to take a look at:

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...hreadid=281443

It appears that they're new in business, which means that there's little chance of finding customers of theirs as they can't have many yet.

Where did you hear about hostxl.net and why are you "hoping" to hear good things about them when you've only heard bad so far.

Personally if I only hear bad things about a hosting company, I don't go searching for good things, I go searching for a different host.

I thought that I would add that HostXL claims to have over 200 clients. This I find unlikely, if even possible at all since they started in December. Most hosts don't take off like in 6 months. Correct me if I am wrong.

Let's keep adding.

The owner has been banned from WHT. Twice, because he signed up a second time.

First time posters seem to be signing up at various forums to "ask questions" about them, a very very common spam technique, and very similar to this thread.

The owner actually had the nerve to call someone a scam artist because they were offering unlimited bandwidth, when hostxl is overselling maximum.

He has admitted to people on another forum that he uses a stolen (warez) template design, and it's been shown that he uses plagiarized text.

On 04/07/2004 they claimed to be opened for business for 2 months and wanted a review.
On 05/15/2004 they claimed to be opened for business for 5 months and wanted a review.
They registered their domain 03/15/2004.
Do the math.

Do you have any more questions about this model citizen?

Hi again,
I see where the confusion was,
Where i refered to hearing bad things, i was meaning another post i had read about best and worst hosts and i had not heard anything about hostxl specifacally (nothing good either)
Didn't mean to cause confusion.

Yes... I know he always does his homework. I've seen him just as prepared in some other places too, not just on HD.
