Please tell me is it me or has the number of fraud orders jumped through the roof in the last week. Just from our experiance we have seen about $2000 dollars in illegal orders.

One of the culprits ordered 3 different times with 3 different credit cards. Then today we had 2 more orders from a hijacked paypal account. Oh and to add to that we had another order tonight that I believe is going to fail yet again. All these of course have been 1 or 2 year reseller plans with all the extra goodies.

Tonight we decided we had to take some action and we installed fraudCall into our Modernbill. But even with that you stop the account from being created if they do not varify it by the automated phone call, but it still lets them make payment.

Does anyone have any other ideas to cut down on this nonscense and stop the fraudalant orders from being able to submit payment???

I can't speak with certainly, but could this be the result of scam PayPal and eBay emails going around for a while now?

I wouldn't think that is the cause, unless they would mention our site in the email, lol. Like I said it is not just the paypal payments that are bogus, they are credit card payments too.

It's strange we used to get a couple a day and then we switched from WHMAP to Modernbill and now we're only seeing a few a week. I suppose that's just a coincidence I honestly don't know. Of course none of them get through since it's always obvious information never seems to match.

How do you deal with chargebacks or phising people?
Generally people who need to do phising, do illegal purchases

Well jsut a little update on the fraud situation. We finally got the fraudcall installed and configured properly. Man I must say it just resolved the whole problem. We are still getting fraud orders, but unless they verify the code during signup from the automated phone call, the order gets denied and does not even submit into the sytem. Thus they cannot make payment and we do not have to deal with chargebacks and paypal hols and refunds.

I recommend everyone to take a look at this system. It integrates perfectly into Modernbill.

No its not really advertising, but i hate for people to go throught what we did. Since we installed this system the fraud is nonexistant. I urge alot of people to use this system. It takes a load off of having to make the varfication phone calls yourself and dealing with chargebacks.

We use Modernbill with FraudGuardian and Varilogix. I would have to say that we now rarely see fraud orders and they are instantly blocked anyway. I would recommend that combination to everyone. It works wonders.

We use Fraudguardian and Varilogix together. Have not had a single fraudulent order go through ever since, only a few rejected orders daily with high fraud rate

I must say it is incredible to see those kind of results from a simple change.
I signed up for services before where they require this kind of authorization, including RentaCoder web site. Even though a little bit inconvenient, but I am all for extra measures of security - to me and businesses I deal with. The better security they have - the calmer my mind is.
