VPS will be a lot more expensive and it will take time to get to know it. Reseller is easier if you get all the right things you want.

My question is, can I still resell just enough accounts to pay for the hosting and still host all of my sites?
The quick answer is absolutely YES. You've already said you don't have the desire to do a VPS solution, so reselling is a solution that could work for you.

Get a reseller, as others have said its a lot easier to start with plus cheaper with a lot of the extras reseller accounts come included with. Once you get a base of customers, you can move up to a managed VPS. This is of course if you don't want to manage a VPS yourself and continue growing.

If you know how to administer a server, then just go the VPS route, you do get more control. Good luck!

There isn't much of a difference, however they may have certain features turned off so you might not really get to take full advantage of it anyways?

If you want to get started get a Reseller. You can even skip VPS option and order Dedicated box if everything goes well

I did this long ago. Decent reseller account, a few paid hosting clients, and my hosting was free.

Well everything will come with a cost. If you plan on doing reseller then you should expect support tickets among other things, downtime, errors, etc. Advertising and getting your site known is another thing that comes with setting goals in reselling.

Basically, it depends on the Budget and the Kind of websites you have. If you have a good amount of Money to spend and you are thinking of Reselling the Additional Resources then I would suggest you to choose a VPS hosting package or a Dedicated server. If you are short of Budget and you are thinking of to Earn some Additional Income apart from what you get from your websites then I would suggest you to choose a Reseller hosting package. Most probably, go for a VPS or a Dedicated server.

I could be wrong, but I think the OP is simply looking for a way to cover their hosting costs & not necessarily start a hosting operation with a reseller account.
