You might want to check out, and bookmark, Position Is Everything

http://www.positioniseverything.net

They've got a good database of CSS problems, quirks, and hacks for multiple browsers, including (of course) MSIE. You may find something to help with your problem there. You won't be looking for resolution-issues, but issues with positioning, padding versus margins, margin widths, et cetera. MSIE really is its own funky chicken when it comes to rendering CSS. It regularly causes people problems.
