Hey guys, i'm not entirely sure what keyword density means so I was wondering if someone here could explain. I did a keyword density search for my site and found a lot of keywords which is great, but some had 59% or w.e next to em..what does the % mean?

Keyword density means the percentage of keyword to the rest of the text. This should be only from 1-5% these days, around 2% at the most for google. 59% doesn't sound right at all because that would be that your keyword was used 59 times per 100 words - that wouldn't even be readable.

Like chatterbox said, keyword density should be between 1 and 5 percent. Look beyond keyboard density to keyword analysis - integrate keywords and keyword phrases that are being searched for lead to products and services you sell - then integrate those keywords and keyword phrases into your site in a manner that flows and adds value to the end user. Those are the ones that need to be between 1 and 5 percent.

Yes I always go no more than 2% for Google. That approximates around keyword repeated 4-5 times in a text that is around 400-500 words long. Anything more than that will look spammy.

For example, what if you have keyword in the page title, meta description, meta keywords and 3 times in the page content.

A question: Then, is keyword count on the page 6 or 3?

Keyword density is a combination of the number of times a keyword or a keyword phrase, in proportion with other words, appears on a Web page. The more times the keyword appears in relation to the total number of on page words, the greater the overall keyword density. The more times that other words appear, the lower the proportion of keywords, resulting in a lighter keyword density.
