File hosting should not be used as a free service as no site will give you security of your files in free solution.

They are fast and reliable and don't spam you with ads.

An affordable vps is the best choice for file storage purpose.

There's no such service you can fully rely on. Buy your own personal storage or at least a VPS/dedicated server.

How about the Rackspace Files hosting? Seems really promising.

Dropbox is the king at the moment.

Completely agree here. I do know that box.net also is popular, I have used box.net and dropbox and prefer dropbox however both are good.

Getting your own VPS is also a great option, that way you have complete control and can implement your own backup system.

SugarSync has been around for longer. It is also far more superior to Dropbox in features for half the price.
