Great job, though the logo does not fit well with the overall design.

Very good site! I can see that you have already big audience out there.
I think, that if you have big texts, they should be more eye friendly. I wouldn't even be able to read one biography since it is a little bit too dark.

why wouldn't I just go to those sites for my research?

What is my motivation to try and find your site for biographies?
Is this one of those new stacks of MySQL database templates that show up from time to time?

Thinking about it, I agree with Blue. If I were doing research on Abraham Lincoln, for example, the first thing I'd do is a Google query, then select whichever site looks like it best matches my requirements. Obviously, Wikipedia would be high on my list for biographies. How do you intend to market your site?
