A former Alcatel campus near Dallas, Texas will be transformed into a massive data center for Digital Realty Trust. The company acquired three data centers this month in Santa Clara. The construction and operation of the upcoming data center will bring 172 jobs this year and over 1,200 jobs through 2015.

Tieto’s $25M Finland data center

Tieto is building a new data center in Espoo, Finland. If the demand for space remains strong, the projected 3,280 square feet facility at the start will be expanded with an additional 1,140 square feet at a later time. Tieto’s investment into this project is approximately $25.5 million.

Cox Communications is building second DC in Phoenix

Cox Communications has announced a plan to build a new data center in Phoenix (company’s second DC in the area). With a construction cost of over $70 million, the facility is planned to start operating not before 2011.

Verne Global to turn NATO command center in Iceland into a data center
