Well, my wife and I were joking about one of the kids sliding down the stairs in a laundry basket, and jokingly asking "wonder what would happen?"

Well needless to say, we had no idea that our 5 yr old heard us talking, and decided to try it just as my wife and I got to the bottom of the stairs. I laughed at first, and then said "Don't ever ever do that again! You're gonna give your brothers the idea to do it!"

Needless to say, I sat there for a while, and my 5 yr old says "Daddy it's fun try it." I kept saying "no. no." After a while of him begging, I gave in, and said "Okay, but only once." I must have lost my mind!

I get up to the top of the stairs in an large laundry basket thinking..."Okay, I can control this thing, and make it go down slow."

Well, that was a misjudgement to say the least. My wife was sitting and watching the whole thing, in a sort of amusement, almost as if she knew I was gonna get messed up.

After I controlled the first step, the dang thing seemed to have gotten a mind of it's own, and I couldn't stop it! and away I went.

I tried grabbing the rail, and that just turned me backwards! That of coursed caused me to flip backwards at the bottom of the stairs.

Once I was able to move again, I calmly stood up and said "There ya happy now? Now don't ever do it again!" lol

The odd thing was everything but the landing was fun

Word of advice....don't do it, and if by some slim chance you lose your mind, wear protective gear. The result of my mistake....I've renewed my status of "hero" with my 5 yr old.

Yayyyyyy Mark

A hero ... and a candidate for "survivor medal of the year" hehehehee. When I first started reading your post ... I thought for sure you would of ended up spraining something or putting out your back or knocking yourself senseless

Gad ... the thing that keeps going through my head ... you must own one heck of a big laundry basket. Even decades ago I don't think I could ever gotten myself folded up enough to even get into one

Heck no lol. My legs were hanging out, etc. The only thing in the basket was my rear end.

And elevated status up to nut-case with everyone else
Congrats on surviving - you do realise all the children will do it now to be like their daddy ?
