I'm just curious on what type of SSL Certificates hosters use on their servers for software and security?

mabye list some pro's and con's of some?

For a start, I would recommend RapidSSL just because its very cheap. You can get it from namecheap.

Depending on what the data you are trying to secure is. I personally if It was for a Billing Module I would go for a more expensive-bit certificate.

Comodo seems to be used a lot and GeoTrust too. You should probably go with the one you trust the most because your the one that will be using it.

If it's for your billing system or order form, better choose GeoTrust. If it's for something else you may use something cheap.

GEO Trust Rapid SSL is very cheap. If you just need basic ssl and not worried about name reconigition there is a free ssl out there. Google free ssl. That is what I did. Basically an open source.

You can create your own. But you would be responsible for any gaurantees of security if you state that.

If you must have gauranteed high performance then that is going to cost a bit. GEO Trust and Comodo have some good options for that.

I use Domain Validation type of certificate for my Support Help Desk. But use High-Assurance Certificate for Client Management System.
