Need suggestions on prizes, contests

Anybody have suggestions on what prizes I can offer people on a discussion forum thats not related to hosting/web development/etc??

And since I have not yet purchased vBulletin is there any addons to IPB that will automatically assign people points similar to the system here?

Any input would be appreciated.

What is the nature of the forum?
You could probably make a deal with a hosting company, make sure it's one you trust, to give away free hosting. You could offer them ad space in return.

Well, I suggest using something affordable, like domain names are always useful, gift certificates is a good idea, advertising, something like that.

You can go for CDs, DVDs, books and other entertainment merchandice.

I would also recommend that if you have further promotion questions regarding non-hosting related sites, publish them at www.PromotionTalk.com forum. Since it would be getting more attention and attracting more promotion and advertising experts, you can get a complete coverage, tips and useful suggestions on how to get where you want your site to be.

I would go with BOOKS if it is a political forum. The Davinci Code is a good one.
