Cheap text links & skyscraper on rapid growth site (2.5k+ uniques daily)

Hi,

The Site
IMGSpot.com is a free image uploading service which opened just over a month ago. The site has gone from getting a few hundred unique's a day to getting well over 2,500 unique's daily in this period, and looks as though it could continue to grow further. Since the site started we have moved from a shared hosting account to a dedicated server and can support further growth very comfortably. We're not going to just disappear like sites of this type often seem to. Due to the fact the site's fairly new we have no google PR yet.

Click here for the site stats for the period that we've been on the new server for. (Ignore the 8th, as that's during the server switch)

The ads
Text ads are available at $10/mo and the skyscraper ad is available for $50/mo. Ads are not rotated so if you buy the skyscraper ad it'll get roughly 186,000 impressions based on 6,000 pages a day (see the pages column of the stats). The ads will not be rotated at all so it will be just your ad displayed for the whole month. The skyscraper ad will be displayed in a third column on the right, as seen here.

OK not to sound rude.. But I can take a copy of another gif and paste that. You got some way of providing some real time stats?

Yes, I'd like to see some stats as well.

For 2,500+ Uniques a day, you don't really have a very active forum.

I noticed that one of your "sponsors" is a targeted advertising company.
That's not a positive thing if you are trying to convince people that your traffic is worth advertising to.

1. The forum could have been just recently installed - thus not active yet.

2. Targeted traffic sponsor doesn't mean that the site is using the service. I had traffic sellers as clients before. That doesn't mean I use those services - I don't.

But my opinion on such offers is that free image hosts think that unique hits they get are unique visitors. Wrong. They serve images that generate same unique visitors - doesn't mean a visitor actually came to their site. So there could be 20 visitors per day, while those thousands are just being served as images they host. Every time someone downloads MY image hosted on their server - it generates a unique hit for them.

Best,

Ok, I should clear up some stuff here for all of you. :)

In response to the realtime stats, the reason I just posted a screengrab is that we use cPanel's stats and obviously we don't want to give out our login for that. However, since people would obviously like something a little more solid, I have installed a script which tracks pageviews throughout our site. You can login here with the user Guest and the password Guest (case sensitive). I only installed the script a few hours ago, so please don't read too much into the data just yet. The AdClicks column will remain on 0 as this isn't actually a clickable advert that is being monitored here. If you buy an advert with us, obviously we can monitor clicks accurately as well as how many impressions it gets.

Although this will not enable you to track unique's, it should be a good indication since people will very rarely be on the site for more than 2 pages (ie main page, image uploaded page).

Regarding the forum, yes, it was only setup a week or so ago. You can view the post on that here. Also, being that the site isn't really targeted towards a specific audience I wouldn't expect it to get a lot of posts right away anyway.

Artashes, you are right that we are not using the targeted visitors service. That link was purchased from us buy a user on a similar forum to this. We are not on any service like that, nor will we be in the future. If I'm honest, I didn't really consider that having that link on the site would do us any harm.

As far as the misinterpretation of the stats, I realise what you're saying but we are definitely receiving a good 2,500 unique's daily and all of the stats software backs that up. Also, if you look at the images uploaded today on the left side of the screen you can see a good indication of unique's there since generally people will just come to the site upload 1 image and leave. That number tends to be around 2.5k at the end of each day (Midnight GMT).

Hopefully that clears up those issues, if not, just shout. :)

I don't think it should do you any harm Vaya. Just in the context of considering your site as an advertising venue, I would be a little spooked about the numbers, seeing a targeted advertising firm as a sponsor.

Not to say you actually use them but that could easily be the impression people would get.

In the stats you provided your page views to visitor ratio is almost 4 to 1, which is much higher than it would be if you were using a targeted hits service.
