Cheap is a relative term depending on what you get. You can find VPS's out there for $15, but there's nothing installed on it. You can find cPanel installed for $20 and up, and you can find Managed VPS machines from $25 and up.

Then depending what it is you're doing on the site your requirements for disk space and memory will change, and that can increase your fees too.

Check out the Offers and Request section - I'm sure someone is posting special discounted rates in there.

Cheap is not something I recommend to you. You shoul find a VPS that is around $25+. Also, to have cpanel installed will cost around $20-$35 depending on the provider you go with. Some providers charge what their charged, some like to make a good profit.

Also, a VPS is a Virtual Private Server. This means the resources you buy are yours. They are not shared with other users like a shared or reseller package would give you.

Here is a better definition I found on google.

Quote:
A virtual private server provides the features of a dedicated server on a machine that is shared by other Web hosting customers. Customers therefore get hosting services that are similar to that of dedicated Web hosting without sacrificing privacy or performance.
I hope that answers your questions

If you are a "starter" is a VPS really what you need?

Starting small is not a bad thing if you are well motivated.

Do some research and find a very good reputable reseller account. Not one of those BS unlimited everything accounts. Something that is real.

Get yourself online that way. Get a few clients and take care of them.
Build your business from there.

At some point you will need to have a VPS. Maybe further down the line you will need a dedicated server or two.

The point is don't spend money on resources you don't need.

If you already have the need for VPS then my recommendations would be ServInt or KnownHost. I have experience with both of these hosts in the VPS range for over 5 years and both are above top notch.

Blue is right. If you're just starting out, you probably don't need a VPS. You can keep things a lot simpler with a solid reseller account, by which I mean a reseller account from a solid provider.

The cheapest way to do this is to buy a cheap dedicated server and then preparing vps yourself, then sell, not buying from providers

CoolvServer may not post promotion here, i think.

Also the vps purchases need extensive search on various companies and also deals with extensive knowledge on handling the vps

Have you ever tried reseller plans? VPS is not shared like reseller, but you need to be careful with hidden charges.. You can find lot of cheap VPS options about read carefully about each additional thing that you may need..

This is completely false.
What you describe would be a disaster for anyone just starting out.

This would be the equivelent of saying that the cheapest way to get a good meal would be to buy a restaurant so you can serve meals to others.

There are many good VPS providers. Make sure you find one with support included as you seem to need it, since your just starting out. The best part about this forum is finding opinions and asking questions. Just do your research and ask questions, then decide which company is best for you.

Cheapest vps will work like over loaded Reseller account, its better to go for good vps servers

If you're new to the world of VPS, I would suggest looking into a 384MB or 512MB VPS with CPanel. Monthly pricing for CPanel will depend on the provider you choose and their licensing costs from their upstream or deal with CPanel directly.

Typically, CPanel licenses are $13-$15/monthly (CPanel/WHM VPS Optimized, not the standard CPanel internal/external license), if you buy them from an authorized CPanel reseller. Web hosts tend to be able offer them a bit cheaper depending on the number of licenses they already hold.

You'll find some that include CPanel with the VPS and those VPS's normally run $25-$50 per month starting.

Shopping for a VPS is the same as shopping for a shared/reseller account in my opinion. Know the costs and know what you're getting yourself into before you purchase.

If the offer seems too good to be true, it most likely is. This can be said for many of the $5 and $10 VPS offers that float around. It's simply not feasible pricing when you take a deeper look into the actual cost of operation.
