Hi, wdkeller, Cincinnati, newbie.

Want to put up personal type site. Have some orig. music, .wma files, > 10M. My ISP provides 100M for personal pages, but couldn't upload my files. Would try for about 1 min & time out. Tried a hosting co. (which shall remain nameless) & got same thing.

Don't want Ecommerce, multiple emails, anything fancy, just want to be able to upload my files. One guy tried to sell me Win server.
What type host do I need?

Any basic shared hosting plan should suit your needs, assuming the music files are original works made by you.

Any of the shared specials listed here should do the trick:

You need regular hosting, can be windows cand be linux, it doesn't really matter. It should do the job.

I'd be a bit worried about something being wrong on your end, given that you had the same issue with two different hosts.

Linux is cheaper for your needs. Plus it's faster.

Try web-based browser see if that helps or your hosts blocked .wma file type

Consult this issue with your provider.

You may be right. Been wondering if my files are corrupted or something, but they play OK on my computer.

I recommend Linux hosts, but I also I agree that it doesn't matter on your needs.

You also try using Filezilla in uploading your files.

Think Linux hosting will be good for you. See no need anything else.
