Autoresponders

There are many reasons. With the autoresponder you have the interested party?s name and e-mail address; you don?t get that from a visitor to your site. The autoresponder also provides you with the opportunity to send multiple messages to your potential customer.
 
An autoresponder allows you to control what information is "pushed" to the end user and at what frequency. Basically, you control the whole message. This is very powerful when done effectively. You can break your sales pitch over a certain amount of messages, give them a level of comfort, and I'm sure there are other benefits.

With your web site, the user controls the experience by clicking where they would like to go or searching. This has its benefits as well.
 
You can use them to inform users emailing you that you are on vacation/holiday and explain you'll be back and able to reply within 2 weeks for example.
