Avatars?

Guys, I apologize for the late response, I just noticed this thread.

I think of avatars as static images. You could ban animated images couldn't you?

I agree we should only allow static images. I don't think this is possible, but we could add a section in our "community guidelines" in regards to this and any other avatar use limitations.

I think that members that already have met the requirements will not be promoted into the necessary usergroup.

Yes, they will.
We will be able to accomplish this by "updating counters".

Maybe there is a hack that would allow to manage avatar permissions and go around the problem of current/new members with more ease.
