Chat software for site

LiveZilla seems to be one of the more popular ones, and it's free.

Personally I don't like it much as it has a lot left out from the reporting end of things. I need to be able to search previous transcripts and also view what other staff members have said to clients. I also had hoped when they mentioned that a client could submit a survey on the support that it would show up at the end of the chat, but that's not the case. Also doesn't appear that the questions are editable.

So for now, we use phplivesupport.com which allows us access to the code to be able to edit things as we need. $89 (currently $49).

I've used many others over the years:
phplivehelper - http://www.turnkeywebtools.com/phplivehelper/
kayako - http://www.kayako.com
human click - www.humanclick.com
************ - http://www.************.com
volusion - http://www.volusion.com/livechat_software.asp
crafty syntax - http://www.craftysyntax.com (looked at, but never used)

and too many others to remember, but for us, phplivesupport seems to be our right fit at this time.

But LiveZilla certainly is worth the cost - LOL. I know my conversations on LiveZilla are viewable by our VP and COO. Plus, I can view previous transcripts in the archives.

Depends on what you consider "worth the cost" :) Free is nice, but I'd gladly pay $2k for a chat program that does what I need. Kayako is nice in that I can monitor chats in real time with employees and managers can jump in if needed (or provide assistance), but there's other parts that are limiting.

I was able to view the transcripts in LiveZilla but wasn't able to do searches etc :( I know they're coming out with a new version (currently in beta) so maybe it'll change when that releases.

But for a free program, LiveZilla beats many other chat softwares that are out there.

Guys, thanks for your suggestions. I have used quite a few myself like Kayako, providesupport, liveleader and currently using onlinchatcenters.com but it creates some coding issue for my site.

As of now, we plan to go for a free solution only.

Now that LiveZilla allows for multiple instances, it's even better than before. We shelved our paid solution and never looked back.

well if looking live chat for free which one the best, i never found, i mean free but not EAT our server to much when running this chat or online live zilla i think best but not enough i little heavy

I might end up looking for another one too. Thats why I made this thread, I am not liking the idea of bots coming in (from what I can tell they are bots, I dont know any human that would spend that much time trying to spam a chat client).

If you have the money to shell out, ChatStat is a pretty good live chat solution. We've recently made the change to it and I have to say it is with no regrets. It's by far one of the most extensive live chat solutions in the industry and they have came a long way since BETA that was released years ago.

I use a cool chatting software at Xat.Com. Pretty cool graphics and sound. It's reliable and attractive. I use it in my own site.

Im thinking of putting a Live Support Chat System up on PerfectedHosting, Althought I have a Mac computer would Live Zilla work on it?
