Hosting Free Sites ?

Has anybody hosted some high traffic sites for free, in request for an advert, hoping that the banenr will generate enough evenue to cover the cost of hosting the free site ? I have been offered several similar contracts, and still have to decide!

Ok thanx Jo, how long have you been hosting them for ? Maybe you need more time. Im thinking of months before i make my money back.

We're hosting <a href='http://dmos.org' target='_blank'>http://dmos.org</a> for a friend for free. The advertising is mainly in the hosting section but we haven't really seen it pay dividends as yet.
 
host sites for free to get in return adversing is not too good, sites who get alot of visits can pay for hosting (usually) :)
 
too right it sounds familiar, i bet they get a lot of the hits intended for dmoz, if you can get away with it its a good way to get a lot of hits
 
If memory serves Yahoo! took some dude to court cos he had something like 100 odd typo domains around yahoo (ie, yavoo.com)


Cant really see dmoz getting annoyed mind.
