How Do I Estimate Bandwidth Usage

Hi,
When I look at web hosting packages I flip out when I see there is X limit of bandwidth on a site, or a limit of how many views per month.

How do I figure out how much bandwidth is needed? This is driving me crazy

its rather hard to determine as you dont know how many people will be on at a time
