A design can take anywhere from 1 week to 1-2 months. It all depends on the design company, how busy the designer is, and what you order.

You have to define Professional. To some, Professional means being able to navigate easily, update easily, and is easy on the eyes. To other Professional means 5MB of flash animation followed up with 10MB of sound clips for every little mouse over or navigation.
