New toy?

Some Time ago in what I imagine now a long lost thread I remember mentioning that I was planning on getting a new laptop :) specifically an alienware m17x... the day has finally arrived having had it arrived a few weeks ago now much to the enviable glances from the various mac users in the office

Think the fact it has a better spec, performance and costs less has somewhat killed all of their usual retorts  and the 3D screen somewhat is the icing on the cake...

Pictured just as I'd finished ripping the packing off like an eager child :D

So what new toy/gadget are you looking to treat yourself with this year?? :)

Nice laptop! :D

Mind posting the specs? I'm too lazy to search for them atm. :p

  • Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 2860QM (2.50 Ghz, 8MB, 4C)
  • English Genuine Windows® 7 Ultimate (64 BIT)
  • 1.5GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 560M
  • 8192MB (4x2GB) 1600MHz DDR3 Dual Channel
  • 750GB (7,200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive (the available SSD Hd's have driver issues that im aware of still)
  • 17.3" (44 cm) 120Hz w/ 3D Bundle WideFHD (1920 x 1080) WLED LCD
  • Blu-Ray ROM Combo (Blu-ray read only, DVD, CD read and write)
  • Killer™ Wireless-N 1103 - EUR
  • Alienware Orion M17x Backpack

Pretty much sums it up.. tis by all definitions "a beast" .. 4hr battery life on normal usage 1hr or so heavy gaming, very much a desktop replacement.. even compared to my Auora ALX desktop :)

Wow, easy there, beast. :)

I am planning to get myself a new laptop sometime in January of next year, but there is no way it'll come close to these specs.

Congrats, have fun and treat her nice.
