What happens if the Server software or hardware fails?

The security of dedicated depends upon how it is configured. Like OS based security, webserver, mysql and other security.

Dedicated servers are secured with SSL certificates and dedicated IP address,but these don't guarntee 100% security.so you also should configure the server to assure security.

A server that goes on-line and is not properly "hardened" or secured with all the necessary security measures depending on if it's windows or Linux and the CP will be compromised in less than 15 minutes.

But I really don't understand the question, if you mean this site's servers send them a message and ask, if it's a specific company many include initial security but after that paid plans are required either from the provider or an outsourced security company.
