spam sucks

Actually the proliferation of child pornography is the worst thing to ever happen to computers.

Spam is a very distant second.

I have to agree with you on that one. Spam is bad, but having the golden casino poping up every 10 minutes is alot worse.

I had to reinstall xp because of that crap I don't know where it came from but a popup just appeared out of no where saying loose weight with some proved b.s. and it would not go away.

Is it increasing or is it just me? In 2004 I started to get more than 15-20 unsolicited emails per day and 1-2 of those emails containing viruses. That is annoying. :crap:

What software would you recommend to keep down the number of spam messages?
I've already put several spam tools in place to help with this, but they’re not very effective...

I have noticed that 2004 is the worst ever for spam, viruses, and spyware. Back in 2003 I dident have ad-aware or NAV because I dident see the use. I almost never got spyware or viruses. Now I get somthing like 10-20 Spyware programs on my computer every day. I have 2 firewalls and Ad-aware, I still cant stop the stuff from coming.

Not only that but those gay installers that popup when you go to websites asking you to install this and install that.

Jose, you are the lucky one. Try receiving 500-600 spam and virus messages per day... heheh.. Now that is annoying.

Yes I do and I try to fix it by using profitability.net anti-spam service. It needs to be re-installed on a DNS level.

When it worked fine, I was down to receiving only about 10-15 spam messages per day max.

I recieve roughly 20 virus e-mails a day from numerous places, I know how you feel. Spam really is quite annoying, I use Outlook currently and its spam-filter. Outlook's spam-filter isn't that great but it sure does help. I have had free e-mail accounts with yahoo mail and their spam blocker is excellent, I'd get over 50 catches a day with that thing. Yahoo mail really does block 99.7% of spam.. I'd have to say their my favorite free mail account.

As far as virus's, trojan's, ad and spyware.. I think these are much more malicious and destructive compared to spam just being very annoying. The most destructive type of virus I've ever encountered was a deltree that changed my bios settings.. it was a very complex virus and so destructive not only did I have to reformat but I had to redo my bios settings.
