I'll be honest with you to say that HostGator is probably much more popular for Reseller Hosting than GoDaddy. However those aren't the only option at all. I would recommend to compare them with at least 3 more web hosts and to make a choice based on quality or the support and contract, not just based on the disc space and data transfer quotas offered in the plans.

I think there's a reason why we see HostGator on every top ten webhosting review site, and it's simply because they have a better affiliate plan.

This post is not meant to be in any way shape or form bashing of Host-Gator but rather as a useful piece of information.

Many are not aware of this but Host-Gator is a reseller of The Planet. I don't mean that they are on a reseller package although they do not own their data centers. This may or may not alter your opinion about them and it's not meant to.

Good luck with your hosting experience and I hope it's a good one.

Best Regards,

How do you know this? I know that HG uses The Planet as it's datacenter but I am quite certain that they own all of their own hardware and simply colocate there

I have a friend who works at The Planet and he has told me that although Host Gator does have multiple servers, they do use The Planets servers.

The truth of this I do believe because I've questioned this my self at one point because I had went on to Host Gator live chat and asked them if they were a reseller and they told me them self's that they are a reseller.

Best Regards,

I suggest taking justhost into consideration. I've used them, and never had an issue. Their support is good too.

What sort of budget do you have? Perhaps we can give you a few more suggestions.

It pays to be cautious. So just do a little background check on the reseller. There's nothing to lose in being careful.

Personally, I do not see any issue with hosting companies not running their own data centers or own their own hardware. There's a lot of investment that is involved in having these type of operations, especially for companies of the size of HostGator. Just imagine the risk and effort required to perform a migration to their own infrastructure.

There are a number of web hosting companies, including Hostgator, that state on their websites that they host with The Planet.

You can go for godaddy. We can put forward a number of reasons for this. They have always tried to make the customer satisfaction top-notch and make the prices mix perfectly with various offers they put forward. They have grabbed various merits for their service. Also they have got numerous plans that suite majority of host seekers.

I think HostGator is too big of a company now to even care about their customers.

Sure they used to be good but now there are other hosts out there who compete with them toe to toe.

Netfirms is pretty good and myHosting have satisfied lots of people.

I'd go with other hosting/domain resellers besides those two. But then again, I dislike crowded elevators. They smell different when you're a midget. I am not fond of those two as middlemen either. With a bigger budget, I'd probably buy hosting from the people they buy from.
