Good Afternoon
The AI Consortium was established May 2005 as a innovative independent research project into the field of Artificial Intelligence. Over the past month the project has been steadily growing with a growing number of developers interested in supporting the project with their own contributions.
The AI Consortium believes that for AI research to be successful a series of protocols will need to be developed and agreed upon. This allows the AI research to be standardised and will allow multiple developers to contribute without conflicts. The AI Consortium has established a board of main researchers who will be responsible for the management of the project and deciding which direction the project will take.
The development will be partially open source, we believe that by opening up the source of some modules will encourage developers to contribute to the project while keeping some key modules with source code only accessible to the research board allows the project to licence these modules for commercial use. This would allow funds to be raised for further research and development.
Already we have published our first research paper on our website, the first paper being based around the idea of developing a Òdigital playgroundÓ for an AI agent to operate within. We also have several other papers being written including one on a stereo vision system that one of our researchers has been working on.
The AI Consortium has also examined business applications for our research and we realised that as the AI is being developed in a modules, businesses can build their own products which only use the modules they require.
An AI such as this could be used for many purposes, some ideas we have looked into are:
1. True learning artificial intelligence for computer games, learns as the player plays to make the game steadily grow harder.
2. Space exploration, due to the distance of some planets away from earth controlling a exploration robot remotely would be useless as messages could take years to get back to earth. By using an AI the exploration of space can operate at a faster space.
3. Research assistants, while researchers may find it takes longer to carry out their research on their own they find it expensive to hire a assistant, by using an Artificial Intelligence as a assistant their would only be a single payment and groundbreaking research could progress at a faster rate.
There are other possible applications but there are to many to list, but we believe an AI such as this can benefit both business and individuals alike.
We have already released 5 research papers on our website and the number is increasing rapidly, already for the first week of this month we have had 65 unique visitors to our site which is double the total number of visitors last month which shows a growing interest in our project.
We are looking for 2 type of sponsor:
1) Sponsor who will get a advert in the rotation on our website, they will pay $40 a month for first 5 months which will pay towards our running costs, the maximum number of banners that will ever be in rotation will be 4 so your banner will be shown 1/4 of the time, the site already has a built in banner management system.
2) Major sponsor, we need to raise between $2000-3000 for new equipment, we understand that this is alot of money so in exchange we are offering a advert in the rotation, a full page advert in each of the research paper books we release, (we estimate we will release a new book every 6-8 weeks with all our latest research papers in, each book will retail for an estimated $25 (dependant on size)). Also the major sponsor will be entitled to a place on the research board and will be able to take a active role in any major decisions the AI Consortium makes.
