If you are getting an error saying DNS records needs to be remove after trying to add an add-on domain in your control panel. Follow the steps below:

A. Confirm who you are current hosting your website with
B. Contact your hosting company and ask them to check for any existing DNS records on the server they are on
C. After the DNS records have been removed successfully by your hosting company, try to add the add-on domain again
D. The error should now be gone and you should have successfully added the new domain name.

The reason why this could happened is because the domain name you are trying to add either exisited on another account or as a subdomain on the account you own. Once the records are removed, you should have no trouble adding the new domain.

If you are adding your own domain and your getting the error, the chances are you are using it on another account you own, in which case you can easily remove it yourself too.

If your a reseller, and its a clients domain, then it becomes a bit more tricky

These are basic steps, still issue persist many times. That time you will need to check the various configuration file where the domain entry is present.

/etc/resolv.conf file is the main file where you can check the domain entry.
