Just for the record - I have absolutely no affiliation with HostForWeb. I've had so many miserable experiences with other hosting companies, it's great to be able to say that I've stuck with these guys for 4 years with no regrets.
People rarely hesitate to post about bad news - but good news deserves some attention too.

I chose HostForWeb nearly 4 years ago after struggling with several other hosts. They were a little more expensive than the others, but uptime and good support are too important. In 4 years, I've had very few problems. Their support almost always responds with a helpful answer in minutes. Speeds have always been good, but not blazing fast. With the lowest level VPS accounts - this is pretty good in my book.
Pros:
Stable - downtime has never been a big problem, minus the occasional fluke
Good support - They're always there, they always speak English fluently (my primary language), and they act professionally.
Cons:
Slightly more expensive than some others.
Would you recommend this company to your best friend?
