The difference between domain registrar and commercial web hosting.

Please discuss the difference between registrar and commercial web hosting.

I am not sure what can really be discussed.

A registrar registers domains.
A web hosting provider offers hosting services.

Or did you have something specific on your mind, like what's a better hosting option?

An end-user cannot directly register a domain and manage their domain information with ICANN. A designated registrar must be chosen.
An example would be GoDaddy.

Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own or lease for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center, called colocation.
Examples would be HandsOnWebHosting, Fiber Elephant, Singlehop and thousands more.

Registrar who registers your domain & web host who provides hosting service.
