VPS v/s Shell a/c

Hello,

I'm setting up a reverse-SSH-tunnel, since many of my clients for whom I build Ubuntu Servers, are behind NAT firewalls.

For this reason, i need to have "middle-pc" and was wondering whether to take a VPS or free shell a/c for this purpose.

Question comes, what's the difference(s) between the two?

Would really appreciate some light on this, pls.

Regards.

Personally, I stay away from the word "free".

If you're setting up a middle computer to allow people to then access another location, it's best to have it under your control. Rather than going with a VPS even, you can pick up a VERY LOW END dedicated box for about the same price. I'd go that route.

I agree a low end dedicated server would be ideal. Doesn't have to be very good spec wise but a good solid connection is essential
