Just wondering how my web server compares to everyone elses. I'm running a P4 2.0 GHz with 2GB DDR-266 RAM on DSL Internet. I know its slow but it gets the job done...for now. What are the specifications of your web server and its internet connection?

Dual Xeon 2.8 GHZ - 3.6 GHZ 2GB - 6 GB ECC RAM
2x Xeon dual core - 3.0 GHZ 6GB - 10 GB ECC Ram
2x Quad Core 2.0 GHZ 8GB - 10GB ECC RAM

all on a 100Mbs :)

Primary & Shared Server Specs: Dual Core AMD Opteron - 2.2 GHz - 16GB RAM

Virtual Server Specs: Dual Core CPU - at least 4GB RAM

Connection: 100Mbps

Dual Xeons (5130) and Dual Opterons with 4GB ram. We have a few setup since we only allow a certain amount of accounts per server.

A lot of the b've dealt with lately, contain the Xeon processors. In my opinion it seems like the intel processors seem to be the best on the market at the moment, regardless of personal or business use. Maybe eventually amd will get back ahead.

I have to agree with kyle on this one. From everything i have seen Intel processors are holding the server market. Sadly, i dont currently have a server to share the specs to.

Though here are my computer specs to compare, :p.

Core 2 Duo 2.33ghz
2GB RAM
Nvidia 8800GT

Back to 2 years ago, dual-core Opteron was really sexy. We got some Opteron boxes at that time, and they're wonderful. However, Intel seems win today. Just get some quad-core Xeon, they're running very fast

I have the following in my rack:

3x P4 1.8ghz, 1gig ram, 80gb hd
1x Dual Xeon 2.66ghz, 2gb ram, 2x200gb hd's hardware raid 1
1x Dual Xeon 2.66ghz, 2gb ram, 2x160gb sata hd's hardware raid 1
1x Dual Opteron 246, 2gb ram 2x146gb 10k rpm scsi hardware raid 1
1x Dual Opteron 275, 8gb ram 6x146gb 10k rpm scsi hardware raid 10
1x Athlon MP2800, 1gb ram, 2x400gb hd hardware raid 1

For our company server that runs our website and programs we use:

# Intel Dual Xeon Clovertown (8 CPUs)
# 512MB Guaranteed RAM
# 2048MB Burstable RAM
# 500GB Bandwidth
# 50GB RAID-10 Disk Space

For our customers we use the latest technology as it comes about. Which means as we generate more customers and new servers we will purchase a server with the latest technology. The last server we got was a Intel Dual Core Dual Processor Xeon 5130 2.0GHz (Woodcrest) server which was about a year ago. Our next server will be a Quad Core Dual CPU Xeon 5405 2.0GHz w/ 12MB L2 Cache (Harpertown) or better depending on what's available at the time and is the latest technology.

A Linux VPS on D 2.66Ghz with 2GB DDR2, can host 100 small to medium sites ok, windows just don't work well on VPS, too slow.

About 60 X2 3800/4000's with 2gb and 2*80gb drives
a few dozen more as above with 1gb
Couple of dual quad core 2350 Opterons with raid10 sas
couple dual opteron 200 series

specs

Our boxes are 32GB nodes running Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V as the virtualization environment.

E5410 2.33Ghz Intel Harpertown CPUs
32 gb Ram

For shared/reseller/etc servers, we use atleast an 2x Intel 5140, 4GB of RAM, that is the least that we have. For VPS, we use 2x Intel 5160, 8GB of RAM.

These are all minimum specifications, for our CDP servers, we use X5340 and a lot of hard drives. :)
