Assuming you are patient enough, you can actually get some really good deals through auctions sometimes. Of course it usually depends on your luck to some extent, but I still feel that it's worth a try.

I wouldn't recommend you to economize on domains! It is better to pay $2 additional per a year and keep a domain with a reliable company!

My vote for godaddy and namecheap.
And don't forget to use their promo coupon, so you will get better deal. Try to search at google for their coupon.

I don't use Godaddy nor namecheap though. Directi is for me.

Enom for a balance of cheapness and quality. Enom for straight up top quality.

Godaddy has cheap .com domains, and sometimes they have good deals for 2yr+ registration.

Always cheap is 1and1.com but its not having good reputation also try indialinks.com

With GoDaddy, too many scandals are involved... GoDaddy does not offer $7 for a Domain to make it cheaper for us, they have additional charges involved and they do not let you transfer the Domain away from them. I seriously suggest you try other Registrars.. Had a bad Support experience myself and was scammed of $25 when I tried buying a domain which was available at the time of check availibility but then whn i tired to buy it, they said some1 else was trying to buy it too and if i paid $25, i'd be the first one to get it... Later to realised that i was duped of my money...

That could due to different reason, btw I think godaddy still have good reputation.

I would say, NameCheap.com is Cheap but GoDaddy.com is good, Go with one of these.

for other alternative name.com also good option.
