I've started buying a few domains that I think will go for something in the future. I've considered buying some other than .com but I didn't know if I should or not. Do you think .net or .org or .us will ever go for nice amounts or should I stick to just .com ?
I"m with Steve on this one. I do think that the time of selling domain names has past us however, so you may be sitting on them for quite some time. People often buy up the other TLDs when they're looking to secure their brand, but for the most part, the .COM is the one that's going to have the value (unless you're country specific and wanted .eu, .de, .nl, .fr, .co.uk, .co.nz or something).
Yup I would stick with .com like steve and conor have said but .net is popular to. Do some more research in reselling domains and you will get a better idea as what to buy. Best of luck!!
While I would agree that sticking to .com is your best bet from a resale point of view, I have had some luck with various CCTLDs over the years (including .TL a few years back if you can believe it) when reselling.
nice job selling a .TL! Just happened to be the right time for that customer I guess. There's always a market for something, it's just a matter of timing and money.
Thank you for the overwhelming replies with the same view! Nice to get an answer that everyone agrees on that is very helpful, now a new question, and please do not think I am stupid but what on earth is .TL and why do I not know what they are? lol
Thank you for explaining and for providing the link. That is some interesting stuff there. I had no idea there was a .tl much less that it was for another country. You people are so knowledgeable!
.COM is better. I assume if you are going for the business web site and if you are considering to be serious chose them all and have your domain name with few domain name extensions.
