Has selling domain names on eBay work for anyone here before?

Any experiences?

Interesting question, Artashes.

FYI, there are currently 1018 dot com names on sale at eBay.

From a buyer's side, I'd be cautious about who I'm dealing with, as I might have paid thousands of dollars and wind up with nothing. I would personally focus on the various domain communities, but that's just me.

Agreed, webfreak08. Definitely buyer beware at eBay. I would imagine that escrow is almost necessary when buying a domain at eBay with any significant price.

www.escrow.com is the recommended place by eBay / PayPal for escrow. Even escrow services can be fraudulent.

How would that happen? With escrow, you pay into the account, you receive the product, the escrow releases the payment to the seller after you are satisfied with the product. How does someone circumvent that system to commit fraud?

Guys I was more interested in the selling part. Has anyone sold a domain name at eBay before? Is it worth listing it? After browsing through hundreds of listings, the domain name marketplace does not seem to contain much sense, with people wanting $millions for their names. Doesn't look like eBay has much credibility in domain name sales...

Best,

Best,
I wouldn't bother, Artashes. It's like finding a needle in a haystack. If I were you, if you are looking to sell quality domains, I'd visit the reputable domain name forums for serious action.

Thanks, Vito.
I have been selling some at DNForum. It was suggested to me as one of the most active domain marketplaces.

The escrow services themselves would be fraudulent. I don't know of any specifically, but that's most likely the reason why eBay / PayPal recommend only one: escrow.com.

seeling at ebay works if you actively advertise it on forums etc. It doesnt work if you just post there and hope someone will see it. noone will :s
