I ordered my first portable GPS navigator unit and it was Garmin's Nuvi 650 model: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134&pID=8671

Can't wait till it arrives. I should have my hands on it by the end of this month.

Does anyone have any personal experiences with any portable GPS devices? How do you like them? How is the actual performace and mapping accuracy?

Best,

My dad has a Nuvi, not sure of the model.

That one.

Other than its maps being outdated, it took us home from Maryland to my house in northern NJ to the dot. Perfect directions, and as I was pulling in our driveway, it said Arriving at Destination.

It was awesome! And a freebie!

A freebie????

Dougy, I have read a lot of reviews on all brands and it proves once again why Garmin is a good choice. Makes me happy to hear.

Yours look like one of the Nuvi 3XX series, they have a 3.5" inch screen.

How many GPS do you need Art?
Don't you already have one in your SUV?

Yes, the SUV has one, but its lease ends soon and we are not planning on having another one integrated into it - the cost is few times higher than just getting a portable one.

Got my self a TomTom One, might I say it works great, rerouting is quick and boots up fairly fast. Mapping is very accurate! I LOVE IT!
