I was just asked to look at a data loss protection service offered by zenok. Their website is www.zenok.com. What I found interesting was that you could use their calculator to determine how much it would cost to warranty your data, based on salary or self evalution. I entered self evaluation of 100,000 and the fee to enroll was $2560.

Your thoughts? Anyone ever used this or heard of it?

Seems it is an online backup service. I thought it was an insurance company.

Its a nice calculator feature to generate some interactivity on their site, but, what I am wondering is what your salary has to do with the value of actual data you create/have, and how two are correlated in any way?

Certainly made me smile, As to the wage vs price... I could only presume they base this assumption around that those with increased wage will be working with data that is mission critical or similar and thus worth more due to the time invested in it vs said persons hourly/daily rate (programmers for example).

It seems like online backup service, which is a common practice these days. It is very easy and secure and requires no expertise for the user.

Interesting... I've never seen a backup company offer $100,000 insurance in case they lose your data, before. Although, I'm not sure I see the difference between them and something like BQbackup.com, or many of the other backup services on the web right now. They also seem to only offer 150 GB of storage with their plans, even when paying $2500/year. I wonder how much they would charge to use 500GB-1TB?

Insurance is just to attract customer. They would be a new company. I guess their insurance tactic would had worked in many cases.
