In continuation of our discussion about the World Cup final incident between Zidane and Materazzi in another thread, here is the latest. (I still stand behind Zidane.)
Lip-reader reveals what riled Zidane
An Italian lip-reader last night claimed to have deciphered the words Marco Materazzi said to Zinédine Zidane that provoked the French captain into butting him in the chest during Sunday's World Cup final, the great midfielder's final act before a red card ended his career in top-level football.
According to the BBC, Materazzi said, "I wish an ugly death to you and all your family," and then told Zidane to "go f* yourself".
This italian guy just should be sanctionned. But I can tell you .. this is the story **everyone** talks about in my country (Im French).. There is not *one* day ATM where you wont talk about that. I do not know how the medias relayed it to the rest of the world.. but it is a hot topic..
There's absolutely no excuse for what both players did, while physical agression is even worse then what people claim Materazzi said What that itialian player said isn't any different than what others say. If you ever have played football (on a low or high level), you'll know that a LOT of things are said between players, but there's not always a camera to register it. Attacking someone like that head assault , well, 99% of professional players can control their temper and just use that to play even better. Some can't, like Zidane, it's not the first time he did such things (spitting, calling names). I understand French people adore him, and many football fans like his football skills, but most dislike such behaviour, no matter how good you can play with a ball.
