Is the reviews from Rate Point a good way to attract clients to your business?

In my opinion, its worth the monthly fee. I need to use that for business quite soon.

We use ratepoint and so far it has been worth it to us. We have gotten a lot of reviews and haven't heard anything negative from our clients. Cableguy, I'm curious about why you don't trust ratepoint reviews.

Anneke, I'm curious how this all works ... never heard of RatePoint until now. My cost would be $200/month - is it really worth that expense?

i don't trust ratepoint because it's too general. webhost reviews are a monster of their own and need to be dealt with a very specific/tailored solution which would also be backed by a very dedicated team in cracking down on bogus reviews. sort of like what's going on in forums.

for any other business, ratepoint is fine.. just not for webhosting.

I don't see any difference between ratepoint reviews or reviews on web hosting directory. Some of the hosting directories are biased towards web hosting provider that pay the most commission. Just do search for "web hosting reviews" in Google and go through top 10 sites. You will see that they will only list web hosting providers that offer affiliate programs.

there doesn't exist a system like ratepoint for hosts but that's what i'm trying to say. we need one. until then, we have forums to crawl (which i don't mind, but for your average user... you know what? screw the average user, they should just hire someone to manage their web presence. I mean, I wouldn't change my car's oil even though it's pretty easy.)

You can collect as many reviews as you want for $10 a month or $100 per year. The higher prices are for email marketing based on contact list sizes which is a lot cheaper than our email marketing competitors. If you want reviews only - come on in for 10 dollars a month. We also have a free product to get your feet wet.

We have a lot of hosts using the system. Of course call me biased, but I think it is the best review system by far.

10$ a month too much for hosting companies imo.

let's take a look at a real example. pacific host http://www.pacifichost.com/ uses them.. read their "reviews" by clicking bottom right corner.. i want to laugh uncontrollably.

there's no weight to these "reviews".. for all i know, they've been written by those top 10 webhosts sites owners and their cousins.

I think you have to look at these reviews as a prospect would see them .. would these reviews carry any weight with them? I suspect the answer is generally YES. Why? Because there's safety in numbers. Perception of value is the key.

Take a look at Site5 at http://ratepoint.com/profile/15460 ... A hosting company that knows how to listen to its customers and have them create content to attract new customers. Reviews are like Gold for a good business.

Regards,

Neal

If you're targeting such crowds, then @ 10$ it's a steal since the product is fine.

Ok, now you've confused me .. not that hard to do - LOL - what crowds are you referring to? I'm not following the second part of your statement. Sorry.
