Zeus is a rival of Apache, and handles many BIG websites. By big, I mean REALLY BIG - including Ebay, Blueyonder and Sony.
There's an article comparing Apache vs Zeus performance.

Hope it'll clear out the situation for you as it has done for me.

Zeus has a much better 'backend' interface, allowing you to use a browser-based control panel, rather than ugly configuration files. Providing you can get the installation started, both Apache and Zeus will set themselves up automatically. However, when it comes to managing your server, Zeus wins hands down.

I also like the verdict at the end

Verdict: Apache is the product of hundreds of dedicated volunteers, and is proof of the power of free open-source software. When it comes to running your Intranet, it will remain stable and is unlikely to let you down. For a great deal more money, Zeus offers a small range of improvements over Apache for your Intranet. It's main advantage of load bearing is unlikely to be necessary on most Intranets, and is more designed for highly popular websites. That said, Zeus's interface is intuitive and makes administrating your Intranet a breeze.
In conclusion, for all but the largest Intranets, Apache is the ideal solution as it's free and reliable. For that extra power, as well as the availability of telephone support, Zeus is certainly a viable alternative - if the budget is available

.
My own conclusion, you can only ask people at forums to compare Apache vs Zeus performance if they have used Zeus for really very big web sites like ones mentioned above. Or talk to the hosting companies running lots of servers like hostgator.com, lunatpages.com, ***********.com.
