They say you can have root access and they will continue to patch/update the OS. NOT TRUE!! Having spent a lengthy time on the phone they confirmed this not to be true and that they would change the wording on the website. This was 2 months ago. The website remains the same.....

All I wanted to do was create a download folder outsite of the webroot and install a shopping cart in the root.

The company he mentioned is Donhost, originally based in Doncaster in the UK.

Maybe that is a trick to caught customers like you?
I believe that your warning will be helpful if that is true

Beware of the companies claiming they provide both root access and full management. It means that both they and you have root access to the server, it is not good as they will have to resolve your fault (or vice versa) and noone does that at no fee.

We've just had someone move from Donhost to one of our VPS packages <<MOD NOTE: URL removed for self-promotion>>. He was really annoyed with Donhsot as they were charging him a stupid amount of money to look into a trivial problem. He's been much happier since he's been with us

At Network EQ we offer various levels of management but would never refuse to manage a customers server due to changes they've made.
