ServerPronto hosting company is definitely NOT RECOMMMENDED. Please stay away from them.

ServerPronto provides no technical support whatsoever, their "technical" staff knows nothing about computers, they are only qualified to reboot the machines (which you have to wait for them to do, there is no automatic reboot),
ServerPronto makes continuous billing mistakes (always to their advantage), and it takes months for them to fix them (if they ever do),
ServerPronto takes down your servers for any reason and without warning,
And more important, ServerPronto will try to steal your money from you with bogus invoices after you have settled down with them so it's a pain for you to move to another host.
They also insist on a lot of paperwork for cancelation which is only intended to allow them to keep billing you and bugging you forever.
It looks like a nightmare, but it's real. You can read all the details, with the actual tickets I suffered while hosting with them, here: http://webcomplaints.wordpress.com/w...-and-they-are/

I'm sorry to hear about the bad experiences you had with them. I heard some good reviews over at WebHostingTalk I believe.. Maybe some of them were spoofs as well.

Sometimes this is what you get with unmanaged hosts. Just curious, what weren't they able to do on your server?

I would assume this could happen with any bad company managed or unmanged. There are plenty of trustworthy unmanged hosts out there. This company obviously has some problems and will likely fail if they do not get them fixed. Sometimes its hard when offering unmanged services. People buy unmanged servers and then ask for things that fall into the managed realm all the time. We do our best to be upfront about the services we offer. I always feel bad telling customers no but have and try to do so in such a way that is diplomatic. The worst thing you can do is ignore your customers. You need to keep the communication open and try and describe your services and level of support honestly upfront. When buying services you really need to do some research on a company and make sure you know what your purchasing before hand.

Wow. I don't understand the huge delay in issuing the refund they promised you. Seems to me that they could have resolved this in one or two days maximum.

Big hosts should also have their policies ironed out and not cause a headache to the client.

The reason that big hosts are profitable is because they are efficient with their administrative and technical duties. This sounds nothing at all efficient and comes at a big surprise to me.

Sorry to hear about your situation, hope it all works out.

I am very sorry to hear about your bad experience. I believe positive customer reaction is everything for growth of a hosting service and they must not like to grow.

Well what else can you do? Switch and move on. Check the The Planet for your new server.

Not all good reviews are always truthful and real. I recommend you just switch hosts and move on, nothing you can really do but just make sure the next time you pick a host, it isn't a crappy like such as this.
