InetServices launched a new website for their cloud computing solutions, making the understanding and choosing process more efficient for their customers. The company kicked off with three types of cloud infrastructure products: virtual machine hosting (with a starting cost of $99/mo), virtual private data centers and virtual storage.
A second 10,000-square-feet data center has been added by Peak 10. Located in Norcross, Georgia, the cost of the expansion is estimated between $5 to 10 million. The company’s existing DC is roughly 60 to 70% full, so the delivered new space comes in time to accommodate the growing demand of its IT services.
An open-source software development company Mozilla has added its second data center location in Phoenix. The new facility will house approximately eighty servers and six racks. The new location was launched to support Mozilla’s DC in San Jose, CA. The company also has satellite locations in Beijing and Amsterdam.
Peak 10‘s credit facility was expanded to $95 million. The company has seen a significant growth last year due to few data center acquisitions, including Louisville and Fort Lauderdale locations. Previously, Peak 10 has also launched two green DCs.
Other World Computing has become the first data center to be powered entirely using on-site wind turbines. The company started to use a wind turbine that measures 131-foot tall in October. The chief executive officer of the company said the decision is based on conservational benefits and future cost of energy.
Data center infrastructure and services provider Datalink has bought Incentra, a data center solutions provider, for $8.8 million. According to Datalink’s announcement, Incentra’s business will be integrated with Datalink completely within 90 days.
A new 150,000 square foot data center will be constructed in 2011 at Sterling, Washington. It will be the second building at 22570 Shaw Road and will be named Megacenter @ Mid Dulles.
Data center management software firm Opalis Software is now a property of Microsoft. This deal will strengthen the company’s System Center line and some of Opalis’ software will be introduced into the System Center itself gradually. The acquisition will bring together Opalis’ expertise of deep data center automation with System Center’s management capabilities.
The new Interxion data center 5.8 miles off center of Paris is now fully operational. The Saint Denis 26,240 square foot DC comes only a few months after the company opened its PAR 6 data center in Ivry-sur-Seine, a suburb in Paris.
A new cloud lab has been opened by IBM in Hong Kong, the first cloud laboratory in the country. The company has also announced a new data center to be built in Auckland, New Zealand, which is expected to open next year to support a cloud computing infrastructure.
