Energy Star certification now available for data centers

Data centers can now earn an Energy Star certification, which requires them to be in the top 25 in energy efficiency in comparison to their competitors. A licensed professional verifies the energy performance of a a facility and should it pass, the US Environmental Protection Agency then approves a certification.

New CoreLink data center in Tukwila, Washington

CoreLink Data Centers has added another data center in Tukwila, Washington. The company’s second data center in the area measures 39,000 square feet with 13,000 square feet of raised floor at the moment with up to 25,000 square foot in the future. It can accommodate varying levels of density requirements.

Ebay’s new Utah DC

A data center has been opened by eBay in South Jordan, Utah. The $287 million facility measures 240,000 square foot and has 20,000 square foot data center halls. It has 7.2MW of energy capacity and is 50 percent less expensive to operate compared to all other DCs that the company leases today.

Microsoft’s second data center in Quincy, Washington

A second data center is being built for Microsoft in Quincy, Washington. Last summer, an announcement was made by the company that its Azure platform would be moved out of its first Quincy data center. The existing data center is powered by hydroelectricity, offering high server utilization and real-time system monitoring.

Telorean opens $15-million data center in Houston

A 90,000 square foot data center has been opened in Houston, Texas by Telorean, an IT systems firm. It extends the company’s position in terms of providing a resilient infrastructure. The current headquarters of the company is in Seattle, Washington. Hosting, applications, and networking are some of the services of the new $15-million DC.

AboveNet’s contract with IPR International

IPR International will have AboveNet provide multi-state, high-bandwidth connectivity to its data centers. It will link IPR facilities in Philadelphia with IPR’s data center in Wilmington, DE.
