Web.com buys Register.com for $135M

Web.com has bought Register.com for $135 million, $20 million of which will be paid in cash. There are 800,000 subscribers in Register.com which means that Web.com’s subscriber base would increase by more than 400%. Register.com has provided global domain name registration and website services for over a decade.

Digital Realty Trust’s $725 million acquisition round

A portfolio of approximately 919,000 square foot of data center space worth $725 million has been purchased by Digital Realty Trust. The properties were brought from Rockwood Capital and 365 Main. The deal is expected to close early next month. The financial advisors for the deal are Credit Suisse Securities and Citi.

Dallas Alcatel to be transformed into DC for Digital Realty Trust

A former Alcatel campus near Dallas, Texas will be transformed into a massive data center for Digital Realty Trust. The company acquired three data centers this month in Santa Clara. The construction and operation of the upcoming data center will bring 172 jobs this year and over 1,200 jobs through 2015.

Peer 1 expands partner strategy

Peer 1 has launched a channel sales division in support of company’s overall strategy to grow and support Peer1 partners. Peer 1 hopes to increase its channel business revenue to 50 percent before 2016. The company is also planning to roll out a new partner portal next month.

Stream Data Centers’s new data center in Texas

Stream Data Centers is building a single story data center in Richardson, Texas. A 20,000 square feet facility is scheduled to open in August and can be controlled by up to four tenants. It is designed to withstand 125 mph winds and its security features include biometric scanners and internal and external cameras.

Interxion opens second DC in Dublin

DUB2, Interxion‘s second data center in Dublin is now open. The European carrier-neutral DC provider designed DUB2 to meet increasing demand for colocation infrastructure and outsourced managed services. The $16 million project provided 26,425.4 square feet of gross space.

Digital Realty Trust expands data center in St. Louis

Digital Realty Trust has begun work to expand its St. Louis data center. An increased level of demand has prompted the company to make the decision. An expansion of an 18-story building with over 200,000 square feet of space is expected to be completed by the third quarter.

Equinix opens data center in London

Equinix has opened a new data center in London, England, which makes it the company’s 50th International Business Exchange DC. The new facility counts 290,625 square feet of gross space, which is Equinix’ second largest DC after FR2 data center in Frankfurt, Germany.

Dediserve raises $1.3 million for expansion

An Irish-based web hosting provider Dediserve has secured $1.34 million in financing. The funding, which was acquired from a private investment group, will be used to increase staff, data center sites, and pursue expansion via acquisition. The company also announced it will open sites in the US, UK, and Dublin by the end of 2010.
