Carbon calculator for data centers

A new online tool have been launched that lets managers of North American data centers check how much free cooling is available. With free cooling, the lifespan of data center facilities could extend. It can also reduce energy consumption and related costs. A “carbon calculator” tool was released by Rackspace two months ago.

AtMail looking for green energy

Software developer AtMail, on a mission to provide each of its offices with its own power by the end of 2010, has enlisted SolarQuip to help achieve the milestone. By installing the solar array, the power system can potentially generate approximately 3.6 kWh per day.

Global Green top 100 list

The Uptime Institute has named the top 100 corporations for their green efforts. The list highlights significant energy efficiency achievements of data centers. The official naming will take place during the Green Enterprise IT Awards ceremony which will be held on April 15.
