Deck the halls e-commerce style with Rackspace

‘Tis the season and this year e-commerce web hosting clients are being treated to a new service offered by Rackspace. Hosted on NoMoreServers.com, the Rackspace Holiday Shopping Mall is offering tons of coupons and special discounts to kick off the holiday season as well as showcase the advantages of e-commerce solutions.

The choice to use NoMoreServers.com is not an accidental one. In October of 2009, Rackspace officially launched the domain as a web site focusing on web hosting, SaaS (Software as a Service) and cloud computing. In addition to enabling retailers a hosting resource that doesn’t require in-house equipment and maintenance, NoMoreServers.com features commentary on a daily basis regarding how the web hosting industry and web hosting users will be affected by this newest era in corporate computing.

Rackspace boasts over 2,000 e-commerce web hosting clients. Some of these “etailers” are already on board with the holiday e-commerce mall and have posted up their season’s savings – Levi Strauss, Coca Cola, Flowershop.com and the Vermont Country Store to name just a few. At this time, the mall web site sports about a dozen and a half promotional deals. Rackspace anticipates this listing to grow over the coming weeks.

Who is the mastermind behind the mall? Andy Schroepfer – Vice President of Strategy and the main author behind NoMoreServers.com. Schroepfer is a familiar face in the world of business and finance. He started his illustrious career on Wall Street and as a web hosting industry tracker for Piper Jaffray and Goldman Sachs. He was recently picked up by Rackspace in September of 2009. According to Andy, the holiday shopping mall was created as a way to assist in the financial success of Rackspace’s e-commerce business clients and encourage other retail businesses to establish their own web presence.

As a die-hard “shop from home” sort of person, the Rackspace Holiday Shopping Mall holds an enormous amount of appeal. Shopping in real live malls and stores any time between “Black Friday” up to Christmas Eve is akin to asking for a physical beating, in my book. Having a large assortment of both large and small retailers offering holiday savings in one convenient location will not only ease holiday shopping woes but also afford the opportunity to get the word out to other personal retail favorites.

This Rackspace holiday assistance is worth some periodic checking over the coming weeks. Kudos all around to an excellent web hosting company that not only offers some fantastic holiday shopping assistance but also is instrumental in helping other retail businesses get their e-commerce solutions up and running.
