Easynet’s new referral scheme launched

Easynet, a UK web hosting provider, announced a referral scheme to support its existing channel reseller program. The scheme is called Sales Agent Referral Scheme and it is designed to offer more opportunities for partners to earn commission.

Yahoo’s new data center to cost $150M

Yahoo! new data center facility in Lockport, New York (Niagara County), might cost the company $150 million to build. Another possible location is Genesee County in Western New York. A planned public hearing on the site is scheduled on the last day of this month. The new data center is expected to employ 125 people.

Capstar to build largest data center in the United States

The space that was home to Western Electric Co. for the past 40 years, is currently being turned into the largest data center in the United States. Developed by a Dallas-based firm, Capstar Commercial Real Estate Services, the 700,000 square foot facility will be occupied by multiple tenants and will be completed in 2010.

HP’s scales down DC cooling management

HP‘s data center cooling management solution has been repackaged as HP Data Center Environmental Edge. The Environmental Edge is a scaled down version of Dynamic Smart Cooling which is designed to manage air conditioning systems in data centers. The new solution will offer offer 24-hour monitoring of power and cooling distribution.

GoDaddy shuts down defamatory website

An online forum that let teenagers post insults and slander, hosted by GoDaddy was shut down by the the company. The request was directed by the Maryland Attorney General’s office that said 54,000 posts alone on the website was from Maryland alone.

LxLabs owner found dead

K T Ligesh, the owner of LxLabs, a software firm based in India, was found dead after a late night drinking session. The news followed a recent exploitation in LxLabs’ HyperVM. Email filters cause Fasthosts outage

This past weekend, customers of Fasthosts provider experienced an over 45 minute outage. The company says one of its email filters caused the problem, but no email information was lost. Data will be restored and re-delivered to those who experienced the outage.

3FN protests FTC shutdown

Web host 3FN is countering the FTC’s claims of hosting and actively participating in the distribution of botnets, spam, and child pornography. The spokesperson of 3FN said that it may have been targeted by FTC due to associations with the Ukraine’s reputation of hosting malicious files and online crime.

YesPCI launches all-in-one solution for online vendors

A Payment Card Industry all-in-one solution was launched by YesPCI yesterday. It combines dedicated hosting, PCI compliance guarantees and merchant services for online vendors. YesPCI is a new joint-venture company by Total Apps and Colocation America.
