GoDaddy goes after VeriSign with cheap Extended Validation certificates

GoDaddy is hoping to increase its market share with a $200 Extended Validation certificate offered by the company. An Extended Validation lets a customer use a single certificate on many servers. VeriSign has so far been the leader of SSL certificate sales.

Unisys takes Starbucks DC to China

Unisys Corporation won a 2-year contract to provide Starbucks with data center services. It enables the coffee giant company to work with just a single vendor for its data center support and service desk. The DC, surprisingly, is located in China and this news allows Starbucks to expand its existence in China.

Attenda launches its third UK data center

Attenda has launched its third data center in the United Kingdom. It accommodates the company’s large cloud computing platform called Attenda RTI. The facility is also independent of the other two data centers under company management. The new DC features a virtualization platform that increases agility while reducing the cost of operating client infrastructures.

Telivo merges with LCN.com; Telivo brand dropped

LCN.com and Telivo.com has been merged by UK-based Internet service provider Advantage Interactive. LCN brand will overtake Telivo (which will cease to exist), with all customers being moved to under LCN.com. As a result of this merger, LCN now counts over 400,000 hosted domain names under its management.

AT&T brings 4chan.org back after denial-of-service attack

A popular image-based bulletin board 4chan.org was brought back online by AT&T. In the statement released by AT&T, the company said that while most users thought adult content might have been the reason for the shut-down, the web service was in fact down due to a denial-of-service attack.
